With its 300.000 inhabitants, Liberia is the main city of the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
It was built in the second half of the 18. century and is located approximately 4 hours from San José, Costa Rica. Liberia stands out because of its folklore, its beaches, volcanoes and the hospitality of its inhabitants.

Liberia’s climate is hot and dry from November until March and humid from the end of May until the beginning of November, with strong rainfalls in September and October. The average yearly temperature is about 27ºC and the historic extremes are of 12.8ºC and 40.1ºC.
One of the main attractions of this area is the vicinity to the beaches and mountains where you will find many hotels for every type of tourist and budget. You can visit places like the Golfo de Papagayo, Volcán Rincón de La Vieja, Playas del Coco, Playa Ocotal, Buena Vista Lodge, y Playa Panamá, just to mention a few.

The city of Liberia, Guanacaste, offers a great variety of services, such as hospitals, private clinics, hotels, bus stations, supermarkets, public and private universities, rental car companies, language schools, cinemas, tourist offices, shopping centers, lawyers,  real-estate agencies, dentists, etc.

The inauguration of its international airport has turned Liberia into the main intake for tourists in this province and has also led to the opening of branches of important airlines (American Airlines, Grupo Taca, Copa, Martinair ) and hotel chains (Four Seasons, Hilton, Allegro Papagayo, Melia, Barceló). Also important high-tech companies  (Astra Rocket) and prestigious universities  (Univeridad de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional, Earth La Flor, etc ) opened branches in Liberia.
